Designer Inspo .... Natalie May

Happy Sunday Peeps!

So I have got my hands on the August Cupcake kit .... uuummmmm .... OMG .... I am soooo loving this kit!

The Lindy's Stamp Gang mist is amazing - just a tip -follow the instructions - it comes
in powder form and you need to add HOT water to mix it together.

LOVE the masks - cant wait to get these inky!

And the paper ....... whoa.... it's super nice. My Minds Eye are quickly
becoming one of my fave companies at the moment.

OK ... so I had ten mins to whip up a simple page .... couldnt help myself.! lol

I used a couple of the papers - LOVE that they have a great print ... not a whole lot of embellishing required!

Some simple layering ... a quick whip around with the sewing machine and I'm done!

 Thanks for stopping by
Have a great week

Designer Inspiration - Gina Rodgers - Pretty Pastels..

Happy Friday everyone!.. I've been playing with the totally gorgeous and new main cake kit this week and I'm here to share the first layout... I've gone with a  pastel theme on this one, which combines well with a kraft background, especially when you through a bit of white in the mix..,

So to start with, I scraped some gesso smears on the card and lightly coloured with a mix of gelatos and water soluble crayons in teal, pink and apricot shades..

I've tucked a few die cut's here and there..they are perfect for layering and there's HEAPS in the pack!

to finish I've embellished with cork and word stickers, sequins, flair and some machine stitching for added texture..

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

DESIGN TEAM CALL - OCT TO DEC 2014

I am so excited to announce that A Piece of Cake Designs are looking for Design Team members to represent our scrumptious kits for a 3 month term from October 2014 to December 2014, with a possibility of a 3 month extension into the new year.

I am looking for an undetermined number of self motivated, inspiring scrappers to create and share their work using our scrumptious monthly kits and exclusive items! By exclusive items I am talking about our Cherry Flair, wood veneer and more :)

I want scrappers who think outside the square and are able to effectively use a variety of different manufacturers and embellishments on one page.  I would love to have the APOCD family represent a variety of styles; traditional scrapbooking, mixed media, cardmakers, project lifers, etc.

As a Design Team Member you will receive:

* A limited edition 'A Piece of Cake' designs kit each month which will be packed full of scrappy yummy-ness.
* Exclusive extras such as flair and veneer to create with.
* Support from fellow DT in a private Facebook group.
* Your work shared on our blog and other social media avenues including Facebook and Instagram.
* The chance to work in an awesome team where your contributions, ideas and opinions will be discussed and valued :)

What we're expecting from our contributing Design Team each month:

* Creating 2-3 layouts per month and sharing them on our blog and social media.
* Good quality project photography
* Use of digital files (whether digitally or with a die cut machine)
* One detailed post every other month - this could be a tutorial, step by step, video, etc.
* Promote and share 'A Piece of Cake Designs' when possible on social media such as Facebook, blogs, instagram, etc.

So..... Sound good? I hope so!  Here's how you can apply to be a part of the APOCD team!

Email the following to raquel@apieceofcakedesigns.com.au - please make sure you write Design Team Application as the subject.

* a short bio about yourself and a profile picture.

* Answers to the following questions:
- Why do you want to be a part of this team?
- Why do you think APOCD should choose you? What will you bring to the team?

*  Pictures of your 2-3 recent layouts which best reflect your current scrapping style.

* link/s to your blog or gallery where your scrapping work may be found.

Call is open to all Australian residents. Previous experience is not required, however, regular presence on social media is :) Designers on another Australian kit club may not apply.

Design Team call closes midnight Monday September 15th, 2014 EST. Successful applicants will be notified by Wednesday 17th September, 2014.

Thanks everyone
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me at raquel@apieceofcakedesigns.com.au

Designer Inspiration - Gina Rodgers - Escape..

Hi everyone, I'm sharing a page today using a couple of cool APOCD products along with some items from my stash.. Firstly I've created the background using gesso, mists and watercolour, then layered a few paper scraps on top. I've used a frame from the Insta-Lovin wood veneer set and stapled straight through to attach the photo..

I've also used a flair along with some messy thread and buttons... finishing off with a title and stamping..

Thanks for stopping by, wishing you a fun and creative weekend ahead!

Designer Inspiration - Lisa Pate. Get your layers on.

Hello Again!!

Another share for me today.  Have you ever gotten to the end of one of our kits and looked at what you have left and wondered what to do with all the bits??? Well my fellow creative it's time to layer all those pretties up and creative a layout.

I love to use EVERYTHING in the kits, even the tag that the washi tape comes on.  And why wouldn't you? everything is always so very pretty.

Layering is how this layout was created.  I didn't even have my photo organised.  Just started putting papers on top of eachother, stapling them together as I went.

If you are anything like me, straight lines are not really your strong point .... so I tend to layer my papers on slight angles and then once I have finished only the photo is placed on straight :)  Pretty tricky right? This *technique* if you could call it that will also pull the focus straight to your photo..

As you can see I have three big kids, two teens and one almost teen.  The best hint I can give you when taking photo's is just let them be silly..... I tend to always love the out takes the best, I love how it shows them having fun together ... and I usually end up with one or two *nice* photo's as well.

Thanks for popping in,

Lisa

Scrapping the moments..

Hi everyone!
I have a layout to share today using the June Cupcake kit.

I seem to have trouble sometimes scrapping the important memories, the special occasions. This photo is from Easter this year just after the kids found all their Easter eggs hidden by the Easter bunny.

Once again lots of different strips of the papers in the kit to create layers on my background.
I have then used watercolour paints to add colour and acrylic paints.
As always i have used my sewing machine and added in some different stamps. I LOVE the various words on the sticker sheet in the kit and these worked extremely well on my layout!
Thanks for stopping by, Eb

Designer Inspiration - Lisa Pate. Getting Stitchy.

Hello Everyone!

I'm back to share a layout I created using the June Mini Kit .

As I sort out my new creative space, I am finding lots of lovely supplies and revisiting a few crafts that I have enjoyed over the years.   Armed with a selection of lovely bright embroidery threads I have been cross stitching most evenings away ... was only a matter of time before the hand stitching found a way onto my layouts.

Mixing my crafts and supplies is something I've always really enjoyed.  I *know* you all have dabbled in other crafts, why don't you pull some supplies out and see what you can add to your next layout?

Designer Inspo .... Natalie May

 Happy Sunday Peeps!

So I have another page today that I created from the June Main Kit!

I used the triangles paper for inspiration and created a water colour background using my Gelatos.

I cut the title on my Cameo and used the Studio Calico alphas as well as the sequins from the kit. I added some vellum and stamps from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by
Have a great week!

Designer Ins[piration - Lisa Pate

Happy Monday !!

I'm finally started to feel settled in my new home and have almost a totally functioning and pretty creative space.  Shame the internet is STILL not working!

It's lovely to have lots of creative work to keep me busy (and I am probably keeping up better without the distraction of internet surfing!)

If you read my previous post you would know I had a rather large disaster with all of my old scrapbooks.  Rather than be sad and upset, I am pulling the photo's off and creating new layouts with older photo's.  Totally LOVING scrapping my babies again.

Using the gorgeous June Kit, I created a messy, fun layout of my youngest babe when she was oh so very little.

I will admit I have a *thing* for cutting up and pulling apart just about everything in the kit(as you can see by the quote sticker) .  I loved using some inks over the top of the stencil to give a background that wasn't perfect.

Hope you all have a wonderful, creative week.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Designer Inspo ... Natalie May

Its a little later in than day than usual for my post today.

I have had a super busy week and had planned on scrapping yesterday but after so many cold and wet days, we finally had a sunny day so we had a family day out.
But today the page still wasn't done ... my office was cold and the sun was out again .... so my hubby Clever Trevor put up the trestle table and I not only enjoyed the morning sun but I also got a page or two done!

I've gone all bright and girly with the June kit again and love the summery look they give this layout.

The acetate pieces are just perfect and I layered them up to make super cute little clusters!

As I have cut into quite a few of the papers for previous pages, I have used strips of paper rather than big pieces - this works a treat!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope the sun is shining where you are!

Designer Inspiration - Gina Rodgers - Sweet Memories

Hi everyone, I'm sharing my last page created with the June main kit.. which is still available!
I wanted the beautiful heart shaped doily to pop against the kraft background so I coloured it with some aqua mist, then incorporated lots of bright colours using the papers and Chic Tags die-cuts..

I've added a little hand-written script in white pen, then stamping over the gesso, mist and ink background..

and I'll share a little tip for making the acetate die-cuts pop, scrape some white gesso on the back and let dry before sticking down..

have a great day!
