May Guest Designer Share - Louise Nelson

Hello everyone,

Well I am excited to share with you the first page from Louise Nelson our Guest designer for the month of May. Louise worked with our newly released style 'Cupcake' kit and also our Cake Base cardstock pack.

We love Louise's style at APOCD and were looking forward to what she was going to create for us. This is the first page she has shared with us.

I love how Louise has used the gorgeous S.E.I Mint mist in splatters and the Studio Calico mask has been used like a stamp, so effective! Add the little scatterings of neon sequins, enamel dots, our exclusive Cherry Flair and voila - stunning!

A close up's of some of Louise's amazing background detail, and the flair only available in the kit.

Hope you loved Louise's first share as much as I did.

There are still 2 more of these Cupcake kits available in the store, you can find them here

A share from a friend at APOCD Michelle :)

Today I am here to share a bit of a step by step from a loyal APOCD subscriber and long time friend Michelle. Michelle is the lovely lady who behind the scenes helps me to pack your scrumptious kits each month :) We normally do this over a big coffee and lots of chatting about the latest and greatest supplies and what we are loving or want!

Here is the layout Michelle created for the current May Colour Challenge for Life Paper Scrapbook challenge site where she is on the design team. Michelle is a Project Life-r at heart so normally she uses our kits to make her PL spreads.  This time she has created a layout,  think you have definitely channelled your 'inner Raquel' Shell, :)

Here is what she has to say:

This is the colour combo to play with this month YUM YUM would love a Macaron right now!

Normally I would create a Project Life layout for this, however I was so excited when I received the MAY Cake kit from A Piece of Cake Designs (now sold out) that I knew I wanted to make a layout instead. The colours are perfect! Especially the Heidi Swapp tags that were in mine.

So this is what I came up with

I had the layout pictured as I was pulling out the kit ingredients and I assembled half of the page before I had even chosen the photo I was going to use.

My recipe is as follows
- I started with a piece of Kraft cardstock for the base, and splattered it with Mint Green HS Color Shine
- Next I trimmed down the vellum to 8x8inch. Scrunched it up then slightly flattened it out so that it sat out from the page.
- Then I cut off a strip of the yellow sunburst paper 'Serendipity - New Day' to approx 2"x11" and roughed up the edges with a pair of scissors.
- Next I sprayed one of the Heidi Swapp tags with the Mint Green Color Shine and left it to dry while I roughed up the edges of the 'Beautiful' banner card with scissors. Then cut both tags in half to use in 2 places on the layout
- Once I finally decided which photos I wanted to use, I printed them out 3x5" size and sanded the edges to give them a rough white border
- Then I took some of the white cardstock and cut it slightly larger than the 2 photos I had and dabbed lightly all over it with my pink Hero Arts ink pad, then adhered the photos to the top so that part of the cardstock was showing below.
- This is when I eventually started sticking things down properly with tape and staples - LOVE my tiny attacher!
- Scattered a few pink sequins around the page, then glued them down once I was happy with their placement

- Next I added the Bling.. A Cherry barcode flair from the April release at A Piece of Cake Designs,  plus a flower that was in the May cake kit. I broke the yellow bead off from the middle of the flower and glued it back down with a sequin to make it sparkle a little more.
- I cut a banner from the white glitter tape and stuck it above the flair.
- Then I wound some of the pink twine from the kit around the flair and flower, then under the beautiful tag and over to the other side of the page with a few loops, and adhered to page with glue and tiny attacher.
- Last of all I cut up some left over white cardstock into thin strips to write my journalling on and attached them with foam tape.
- and I added the kraft banner with heart cut out onto the right hand side of the photos, and the birdie paper clip onto the top right of the photos.

I hope this has inspired you to get creative!

Introducing Cupcake Kits to APOCD!

I am pleased to announce the newest addition to the APOCD Store....CUPCAKE KITS!

These kits have all the great flavours as our usual Main Cake Kits, but are bite sized pieces of perfection! Yum!

How are these different to all the mini kits out on the market you ask? Well, scrappers now tend to love to get messy and create their own recipes. That's where APOCD Cupcake kits come in.

These kits are packed with a range of 6x6 papers and other coordinating embellishments. But, what I love about these kits is that they will contain either a mask, stamp or mists, paints, inks, pens, etc. You get the idea! It allows you to add that texture and dimension that you love to a page. All packaged up, coordinated beautifully, waiting and ready just for you! If you love Project Life, these could work for you too.

So without further adieu, here's the May Cupcake Kit:

As you can see from the image, this kit is beautiful. It contains 12 6x6 papers from the new My Minds Eye 'Find your Wings and Fly - Up and Away' line, 1/2 a pack of coordinating enamel dots, a Doodlebug Designs Alpha sheet that contains three different alpha sets, A Studio Calico Mask, Sei Mint Tumble Dye mist, 2 Exclusive APOCD Flair especially made to coordinate with the kit and a selection of veneers, tickets and sequins.

We will also have 'Cake Bases' available in store which is card stock, available in packs or in individual sheets.

Here is the kit in more detail:

I CANNOT WAIT to share who I have Guest Designing with our first ever Cupcake kit!!!! So excited as this lady is just oozing creativity.

Sale of the kits will be this coming Monday with our Main Cake Kit and Cherry Flair. They are limited in number.

Subscriptions are not currently offered and this kit will be sold on a first come, first serve basis for the month of May. There is a possibility of beginning subscriptions from June onwards for either a 3, 6, or 12 month duration. Email me at raquel@apieceofcakedesigns.com.au if you are interested.

Would love to hear what you think of our first ever Cupcake Kit.

Last share from April Guest Designer Felicity Wilson

Hi, It's Felicity here today!

I have had so much fun creating with the April kit and want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to Raquel for having me as Guest Designer :)

These next two pages I used the contents of the kit, but couldn' t help myself, I had to add some Prima flowers. I am just so in love with the colours and the texture that you can create using the kit!

My first project I used quiet a few of the flairs. They just coordinate so well and just really tell the story I guess.

Some close ups:

My last project I tried to co-ordinate all the bright colours, the reds, greens, yellows and some blue!

And some close ups:

Thanks so much again for having me as a Guest and I really hope I have inspired you all in some way to crack open that kit and simply have fun!!

April Guest Designer Share - Felicity Wilson

Hi sweet people,

Felicity here today to share a page using the most colourful bright April Kit. It is not surprising it has sold it, its just perfect to bring the sunshine into your studio.

Firstly, most of you all know that I am a scrapper that clusters and layers like mad! Well, I put myself to the challenge to only use the contents of the kit! I say challenging, because I normally load my pages with embellishments - maybe I go a bit over the top, but anyways. I was pretty stocked to create a page that I like with only kit contents.

Here it is:

Layout title: Mr Chatterbox

Some close up images:

We love how Felicity has used the patterned paper to create embellishments like the rays coming out of the left side of the photo and the large chevrons

Thanks so much for letting me share, I will have a couple more projects for you next the day or so!!

In the meantime here is a sneak of what I have to share next

Felicity
