Just in case...

Just in case you find yourself with some spare time at the moment ( hehehe) I thought I would share another layout using the November kit!

It is fairly similar to my first layout I shared, but I have loved combining strips of the beautiful papers with those cool border stickers!!

I have added a small wooden studio calico heart from a previous kit too!!!I  love how all the kits combined make for fun scrapping!!!!
You can see I have once again used paint and some texture paste to create more interest on my background paper.

Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!!! I will look forward to sharing some more creations in the new year!!!

STEP BY STEP and a must see TUTORIAL...

Hi again, I am back to share a step by step with you and a tutorial on how to make your own stamps!

                                                                 Here is my layout!

Are you ready to go!?

Step 1: Use some white cardstock and a template of your chaoice and add some misting. I have used a chevron mask by WOW and tattered angels "Aquamarine mist" I have just sprayed randomly and have not covered the entire page.

Step 2: Use your Echo Park paper that contains the various tags I have used and cut them out.

Step 3: Add in another layer of masking . This time I have used a lettering stencil and some pink paint. Lay the stencil sideways in the spot you want it to go as I have. Dab over with pink paint. Don't worry if it doesn't turn out perfectly. Once it is dry you will draw over the letters in black pen.

Step 4: Now start with your photo and begin placing the tags you have cut out out previously  in the same spots as I have. I have also used small strips of the pink paper underneath these tags. Also the balck and white strip is from the barcode area of the paper.

Step 5: To colour the manilla "MY LIFE" tag I have just rubbed a stazon ink over the top. You could do the same or mist , paint, whatever you like in whatever colour you have available.

Step 6: Now, once you are happy with the placement of all the strips and elements you can adhere them in place.

Step 7: Tear of a piece of your washi tape and then tear into half so you have two zig zag pieces and stick them as I have on your layout. I have also added a small piece of red and white chevron tape. You could add something else if you don't have anything similar. I have also cut off a barcode from one of my papers and used that too!

Step 8: Add your button, brad , hearts and twine. I have attatched my twine with staples but you could use glue or tape if you prefer.

Step 9: I have used the pink "Basic Grey" letters to add a small title.

Now the fun part!

I found this cool way to make your own stamps and I gave it a go!!!

So here are mine, although I didn't have a small wooden block to adhere to. But I am loving them so i hope to make more!!!
So easy and I have all this foam I bought years ago!!!
Here are mine and where I used them on my layout!

I hope you enjoyed this layout! See you next time! Eb xx

Wednesday 31 October 2012

Hello, Hello!

Hello! It's Ebony again to share some inspiration from this months kit!!!

I have two to show you today and then a step by step later in the week.
Once again this kit is beautiful! However not my usual style and it was fun stepping out of my comfort zone!!!
This is my first layout. LOVED the colours and floral patterns in these papers.

I have added some misting to a piece of white cardstock and some templates. Also added is a small piece of a dress makers pattern, and a small strip of yellow washi tape.

Next is this one......
Once again a girly layout! Lots of layering and even some fussy cutting! ( I know , don't fall over).

Here is a close up of my misting. I have  used Mr Hueys custard mist and dripped it down my page.
Also loved the manilla tags with the words cut out!! This time I have used the actual letters! Very economical and cool!!!

Well I will be back with a step by step later in the week and even a link to a tutorial on how to make your own stamps! Thanks! Eb xx

implications on the release of this months kit, which I feel in turn will affect the remainder of kit release sale nights for this year (November and December).

The October kit sale night is close.... this coming Monday

November kits will be a mid month release and December will go back to normal, a start of month release...I hope this does not inconvenience anyone.

I Love scrapping with just strips of paper and this kit is perfect for that!! This "Authentique" paper is so easy to use!!! I added a "Jenni Bowlin" bingo journalling card to this layout.

Some shares...

Hi everyone! It's Ebony again to share some inspiration using this months AMAZING kit! I honestly have to say this is my favorite kit to date! I loved the colours, the embellisments, the papers, everything and I didn't really add anything extra to each layout! I did use my Cricut machine to cut some stars and other bits from some cardstock. I managed 4 layouts in a record time! I just found this kit amazingly easy to use. It is a great kit for boys layouts but I also managed a girls layout I loved too! So I will share two with you today!

This one obviously of Will! I LOVED the "Authentique paper" with the different strips on it!!!
To create the background I pulled out some old "Making Memories" scrapbooking dye which is in powder form. I sprinkled it on some grease proof paper and spritzed with water. I then just took my background paper and layed it on top of the dye and dragged it through it. This colour was called wheat.
I have even made the most of the scraps from the back of the "Jenni Bowlin" rubons! See the small punched out stars, well I used a small star punch with the backing paper! The colour worked perfectly!

This one is the only girl styled layout I created with the kit. I used lot's of the "Echo Park" tags and layered them.I did add a few little extra bits of washi tape here.
Well thanks for popping by this blog! I am sure you are enjoying creating with this kit! I know I did!!1 Can't wait for the next one! See you again soon, Eb xx

I have used lots of different stencils and masks with mists to create an arty/grungey background and then used the various patterned papers to create the sphere! All the embellishments are from the studio calico embellishment kit! I then added some diecut stars , added some texture paste and some doodling and there you have it!!
I loved this quote too! Such a good versatile , happy quote!

An August Share .....from Raquel

Hello, long time no share from me!

I have been meaning to share this layout for a while. Since the start of the month the August kit had been calling my name, the embellies were just too good to refuse.

I decided to complete a challenge from one of the challenge sites using the August kit. Here's what I chose:

KRAFT IT UP

This month was a sketch

And here is my interpretation using the August release, there are still a few of these left here if you missed out!

The embellies in the Studio Calico Heyday pack were just perfect for this sketch, and the bonus of this kit is you get the whole pack to play with, not just a selection of the pack :)

Hope you like it, I sure did have fun using this sketch!

what do you think?

Malinda here....I love the latest APOCD kit...what do you think of this page?

It's for Kraft it Up August Challenge...I love this kit but I don't know if I love the page. Perhaps I've used too many muted colours on one page...or just too many colours for me on one page. Perhaps it was the sketch...I liked the sketch but I don't normally do PORTRAIT style pages iykwim.

Well I'm off to scrap...yep with the gorgeous APOCD August kit...who's still got some of the kit left?

A boy layout this time....

Hi everyone! Its Ebony again to show you another layout I have created  with this months gorgeous kit!
This time it is a layout of my son Will and how much he is improving with his swimming these last few months.

Once again I have added a few scraps of papers and cardstock to my kit from my stash as I love to be able to use up scraps as well! Makes my kit go further too :)
I LOVE the element stickers in this kit and they make the perfect, easy addition to your layouts. I have used another flag turned sideways as well!!!
happy creating. I will be back again soon with another share!

First page and loving it

Gorgeous kit this month from APOCD.

I've created 2 or 3 pages with this kit so far, hoping to use it again today sometime. It's for boy and girl, so perfect for my brood.

By now you will know I like PP as my background and love to use PAINT and masks/templates...the messier the better!

Normally I would shy away from paper with the sewing pattern on it. But this paper whilst intially you would think is for girls is great for boys, so blue and with the black makes it very boyish.

The strip of PP adds just another lot of colours to the layout to break it up a bit. Perhaps I should have added a touch of green and purple somewhere else on the layout. Might go back to do that.

Loved the alphas, and easy to doodle either around or actually on the alpha.
How gorgeous is that washi...one of my favs I think!

The CHERRIES in the kits are just so cute, and match perfectly with the papers. Love them!

Right off to create! This page is for August Show Us Your Stuff challenge. Head on over and check out the challenge.

Have a great day xxxx Mal

Monthly Recipe with Ebony

Hi everyone!!! I am so excited to be now apart of the A Piece of cake Design Team!!!!
Today I have a layout to share with you, of which I am going to share my thought process and instructions to create yourself!!!
It is actually this months challenge at "Kraft it up" so it is based on this sketch.

I loved this sketch ! The other criteria is to add layers.....right up my alley!!!
So although you won't be able to submit this layout on the site as your challenge entry,  you can recreate it if you wish!!!
When I think of layers I don't always think papers and embellishments! I love to add layers through different mediums such as paint, mists, stencils and stamps!!! So this layout shows you how to do this. Are you ready!!!???

Now you will notice a few things I have used that are not in this kit, but that is ok because I am sure you all have similar things in your own stash. To be honest I love using these kits and then pulling bits and pieces from my stash to add....it allows me to use up some of my other bits and pieces and it makes all of our layouts unique also!
So here is my layout!

And here are the steps you need to follow to recreate this layout! Enjoy!

1. The first step is to apply some blue ink or paint to your background cardstock in this instance Kraft!  I actually watered down some stazon ( however distress ink works much better) onto a piece of baking paper with some water and then rubbed my cardstock over it . ( Thanks Jas Shea for this tip!)

2. The next step is to use a mask with either some white mist or paint and apply to your kraft cardstock background. I have used a star template that I have created myself on my cricut. You could use anything you have in your stash or get creative and make your own also!!!
I have sprayed the area through the centre of my cardstock on a diagonal as you can see. ( Remember you will cover a lot up and you can also if using paint go back afterwards and add some more!)

3. I have used two 2x3 inch photos which I have trimmed down to fit these Heidi Swapp frames. Please note these do not come with your kit but they could EASILY be made yourself by matting your photos with cardstock. So this your next step to create these frames.

4. Place aside and start trimming some strips of patterned papers. The longest strip is from the wood grain My minds eye paper in your kit. Mine measures approx. 25cm x3.5cm and I have used a decorative punch along the top. I have also torn some parts of the top edge off. Before adhering this piece take out of your Studio Calico embellishment pack  the tree banner pieces. The darkest aqua banner is stuck down in place before adhering your paper strip. Then the other two go over the top of this strip as shown.

5. Next  you will see the cute little “happy” word strip on your Basic Grey sticker sheet. This is cut down and stuck down as shown.

6. Now I have also added a little pink tag to my layout which is not in the kit but you could add a piece of paper, cardstock, journaling tag ( there are heaps of cute ones on the Basic Grey sticker sheet.) Adhere this as I have and then its time to add some washi tape! Use a strip of the grey one in your kit and also small pieces of any other tapes you might have in your stash as I have…or pieces of ribbon or patterned papers from your stash or this kit…up to you!!!
The beauty of these kits is it is a great way to use up your stash too as you can add small amounts of other pieces you have at home!!!

7. Now adhere your two photos or even just one if you have a larger photo. I have used one of the little flag stickers from the Basic Grey sticker sheet on the bottom of my frame.

8. On top of my pink tag I have added the yellow tag found in the Studio Calico embellishment pack. I have two brads from the kit and adhered. I added some journaling to it at the end.

9. Now I have used two of my flags to create some more banners. I just cut the sticks off!

10. Add in two of your fabric buttons.

11. I have stamped the word “delight” onto my layout underneath my photos. You could add journaling here, a quote, a border stamp….whatever you have or even leave out completely!

12. Wind and attach some of the yellow twine and make a bow for one end. I have attatched with staples.

13. Type out two little words in Word on your computer or use some stickers from your stash and add those.

14. I have cut out three little arrows from some scrap white cardstock as well as a star. You can free hand it or trace around a template. I have used a small star punch in two sizes to cut some yellow ones and a pink one from scraps of paper .Adhere these as shown.

15. I have used an acrylic  script stamp ( there was one in a previous kit!) randomly amongst my misting on my background with black ink. The trick is not to use a block….just hold the stamp with your hand and do not ink the entire stamp. Just ink it randomly and with your fingertips push the stamp in a few places to create a more random look.

16. Now add your title using the alphas.

17. Use a black pen to add some doodling around your photos and add journaling!

I hope you enjoyed this process!!!
I will be back again soon with some more shares, Eb xxx
