May recipe with Mal

So the MAY APOCD kit is just gorgeous don't you think. So many yummy things in it...I had to stop myself from using too much on my layouts...wanted to keep some for the next page!

You will need:

  • paper trimmer
  • scissors
  • paint
  • black pen
  • washi tape
  • stazon ink - brown or black
  • circle template
  • pritt or similar glue
  • paper piercer or similar
  • MAY APOCD kit

From the kit I have used
  • Lily Bee Design 'Buttercup - Puddles' Patterned Paper
  • Crate Paper 'Pretty Paper - Border Stickers'
  • 'The Twinery' Caribbean
  • brads
  • Jillibean Soup 'Soup Labels - Love the' Stickers
  • We R Memory Keepers 'A Little Note' Mini Stamp
  • crotchet flower

I have chosen an 8.5x11 layout, but the page would work just as well with a 12x12 layout.
My photo is a small photo, taken on Instagram. I print at home so I don't really know what size my picture is, but it's probably about 3.5x3.5.

After cutting your base from Lily Bee Design 'Buttercup - Puddles' Patterned Paper, I removed the pink sticker from the Border stickers, set it aside for later use and then cut the outline out as shown below.

We're going to use the outline as a mask.

I used a paint dabber but any paint brush will do.

Doodle around the masked areas. In this picture I've only doodled the scallops but later I decided that the whole thing needed to be doodled.

Use about half the pink scallop to create two sides of the square.

Tear some small strips of washi tape. There is a gorgeous pink one in the kit, but it got lost on my page so I had to use a different one. If you use a different coloured paint like blue or yellow the pink washi tape from the kit would be gorgeous.

Randomly place and scrunch the washi tape in different places around where the photo will go.

Using the mini stamp randonly stamp on the page. This adds layers to the page.

I decided to use a circle photo for this page but a square will work just as well. In the adges, distress, even scrunch the picture.

Tear about half the blue border sticker in half and finish off the two sides of the square.

I don't know how long the string is, I just cut it where ever I felt was about right, lol.
Randomly drape until you are happy with it's placement, then carefully lift bits and glue.

Take a 3 inch piece of the yellow border sticker, tear into 3 or 4 pieces of different lengths and place top right corner.

Stick photo in centre of square border, place crocheted flower, brad in centre.

Finally add title, doodle around letters.

Add one of the Love The stickers to the top right corner over the yellow border sticker. I rip my stickers to give texture and a grungy feel.

Finally all my pages, well nearly all, have journalling. I don't really like my handwriting but it's important to preserve these memories. Either handwrite or dymo some journalling. I like the handwritten option in this case because I don't want to take away from the picture.

Add brads to top right and bottom, this creates a visual triangle. Doodle around brads.

And here's the final page.

Hope you love your page. Feel free to add bits of your own style.

Please share a pic on the FACEBOOK page...would love to see what you do!

Have a great scrappy weekend
