Gina Rodgers - Goodbye..x

Hi everyone, I'm signing off today with my very last layout as part of the APOCD design team.. what a fun time it's been creating with these gorgeous kits..a BIG BIG thank you to beautiful Raquel for everything!!.. I will definitely miss being a part of this little team, amongst such lovely and creative ladies in Ebony, Lisa and Nat.. I can't wait to see what the new team creates, I'm sure it's going to be amazing!..

So..on with the page which was created with the September Main kit.. I've done a mixed media background on the kraft card using gesso, mists, black ink, white pen and stamping.. I've used the striking b&w papers together to frame the photo along with some scraps, washi and a few buttons from my stash..

a piece of plain vellum helps add some softness and I've curled up one corner to add interest and texture..

the cute burlap bow completes the page along with some sequins and thread and cork sticker for the title...

thanks for having me!..goodbye and SCRAP ON!..

Best day ever!!

Hi everyone!
Once again i am using the August cupcake kit.

While I was playing with the papers in the kit I came up with , unintentionally, a christmassy
combo of colours! So I thought why not show how versatile these kits are and show you a christmas themed layout!?
So here you have it....

My children for the first time ever, adopted an Elf on the shelf!
It was so adorable!!!
But I was yet to scrap any of the photos!
This kit allowed me to scrap this precious moment. The last day before our elf "Tinsel" as we named her , was to head back to the North pole til next Christmas. This meant the children who had been unable to touch her til now as the fear her magic would disappear, were able to give her a cuddle goodbye! So it was a sad day but also the best day at the same time!

I loved the mixed bag of embellishments by MME and this title was perfect!!

I have used a mix of papers that contained reds, green and even some yellow.
I used my sewing machine and some masks to create an interesting background on masking tape.
My background paper is by 7 Dots studio.

Now I have to add I have used a special veneer that was released last year!
It was a special Elf on the shelf set and I had been holding onto it do these kind of layouts!

Thanks for stopping by, Eb xx

Designer Inspiration - Lisa Pate. Girly Grunge

Hello Everyone!!!

I'm back to share another project I put together with the August Main Kit.   The kit was full of super pretty colours and embellishments... BUT my 14 year old has morphed from the girliest little girl ... into a music loving, black wearing, combat boot lover kind of teen.  Which I LOVE.

But the colours in the kit needed a little grunging up to suit her.

So I set to work.

Here is a few ideas on how to turn pretty papers into grungy goodness.

  • Gesso.  I slathered it on my base cardstock as well as liberally brushed it over my papers after attaching them to my papers.  It's patchy, and lumpy and bumpy.  Perfect.
  • Staples.  They are awesome to attach anything quickly, but they add a little more metal to a pretty page.
  • Crumple, fold, tear.  Crumpling, folding, and tearing all add more texture.
  • Splatter and spray.  You all have sprays or water colours to splash and spray around,  I used them both on my base cardstock and over the whole layout.
  • Scribble it. Grab a pen or pencil and scribble.  A border, a design element (circles were used on my layout) or your journalling.
  • Scratch it up.  Those gold alphas were just a little too shiny.  So I took my scissors to them and gave them a scratching up.
Here is my layout, and lots of other images to show you how it came together.

Thanks for stopping by everyone.  I hope it inspires to you take papers and kits and make them suit your theme or personality.

Best fun with best friends....

 Hi again everyone!
I have a fun layout to share with you today and it features a fellow designer Nat!
We earlier this year along with Raquel and some other awesomely talented friends rented a holiday unit in Mount Gambier SA. SO much fun and these were just some crazy selfies on my phone! I have used the contents from the August cupcake kit which is now sold out.

Once again the masks were the main feature of my layout! I have used the scalloped edges with some texture paste to create some interest on my background cardstock.
I have also then used the ampersand mask with my black pen as a feature on my layout.

I have also used many of the patterned papers as strips and circles on this layout along with the stickers , alphas and sequins.

I have cut the title from one of the papers  too!!!

I hope you are enjoying your kit!! til next time, Eb xx

She loves to read and tell a story too:)

Hi again everyone,
I am back to share another layout using the June Cupcake kit.

This layout is a photo of my daughter who LOVES
to read!! She is also a great, animated story teller and I really
wanted to document this aspect of her life.
Often when we go shopping and if she has some pocket money , more
often than not she goes straight for the book sections
in the stores.

I have like the last layout,
used a tag from the kit to highlight and frame my
Instagram photo.
I have used lots of different strips of the papers,
as well as the sticker sheet in the kit.
I have added some of my own washi tapes and a past kit flair.

I LOVE this mask so I used a yellow Faber Castell
gelato to add these words to my page.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you are enjoying your kit , Eb x

It's completely up to you...

Hi everyone!!

I am back to share a layout created using the latest cupcake kit!

I know I say it all the time but this kit is my favourite!!!!
I LOVE all the papers in it, the mask is my all time favourite and
the Lindy's Stamp gang mist is totally AWESOME!!
This is my first layout to share!

As always stitching and a mixed media type background onto
white cardstock.
I used the Dina Wakely mask with grey
Faber Castell gelatos as a feature on my background.

I then used the "NOTED" tag as the main feature
to highlight and frame my photo.
I have cut strips from the papers as well as small words
and used stickers from the sticker sheet to embellish
my layout.
And I LOVE the cherry fair!!!!!

I will be back again next week with another creation
to share! Thanks , Eb xx

It's a boy thing....

Well this layout is anyway!! I have another layout to share with you today once again using the latest main kit.

I thought this kit was perfect for some boyish fun and this photo of Will and his bestie were perfect for the kit!

I knew when I first opened the kit I wold have to use this paper as a background! Just love it. I have again used various strips from the papers, the star vellum and some old dictionary to create interest and colour to my background. I have then just used various stamps randomly over my page to add more interest and depth.

All these embellishments worked so well from the stickers to the buttons to the flairs!! So easy to se and so effective!
I didn't really want the banner look from these My Minds eye chipboard pieces so I cut them down to resemble a tab instead!

Hope you are enjoying your kit! Won't be long til the next release :)

Its a Boyish layout....

Hi everyone! I wanted to share with you this grungy, boyish, fun layout today using the contents from the main kit this month.

The  kraft cardstock was my base to begin with and using lot's of different strips of the various papers I created a background for this photo of Will taken a few years ago!
To add a grungey feel I used a sewing machine to add in some messy black stitching and added a layer or some white gesso over the background using an old credit card.

Once again I loved using the film strip stickers and this time used the basic grey scrabble letters as my title.
I painted some of the cute veneer shapes to match my circular panel.
I have added some circular panels by 2 Crafty to add some dimension to my page.
As I always do I used various stamps to add interest to my layout!

I hope you are enjoying your kit as much as I am! See you again soon, Eb x
