APOCD is in search of Digital Designers….

Yes, you have read right! APOCD are looking to collaborate with some awesome Digital Designers to make APOCD even more scrumptious. However, before I continue I would love to make a distinction between what we are looking for.

APOCD are looking for Digital Designers not Digi Scrapbookers at this stage. This means APOCD would LOVE people on board who can create from scratch Photoshop Brush sets, Silhouette and SVG cut files, PDF and Photoshop templates and printables for scrapbookers and Project Life-rs, etc.

Here is what we are after:
* A designer who can collaborate with me at APOCD to create gorgeous brush sets, cut files and printables for APOCD customers.
* The amount of creations per designer each month will be negotiated between the designer and myself depending on the needs of APOCD and the designer themselves.
* Payment will be negotiated upon appointment of position and will be agreed upon by both designer and APOCD.
* Designer will be responsible for creating files and following all copyright laws in the creation of those files.

To apply email the following to raquel@apieceofcakedesigns.com.au with Digital Designer in the subject box:
* Name and a brief bio about your design history.
* A link to your blog, website, etc if applicable.
* A portfolio of your designs.
* Why you would like to design and collaborate with APOCD?
* Any other info you think it would be great to know….

Call open worldwide. Applications close May 16th, 2014

Any questions, please don't hesitate to email me :)

Infinity ..... Natalie May

 Happy Sunday peeps....

Can you believe I have got a 4th page out of the March Cupcake kit?
Kinda lovin it! :)

So this page was inspired by the super talented Natalie Elphinstone - she created a page a little while ago and I love the design and layering so much I thought I'd incorporate my March kit and veneers into it and see what happened!

I love that the wood veneers are flat enough to slide into the layering without adding any bulk to the page - this worked really well with this page.

The super cute Cherry Fair was a great fit and I used the Sticker for the title from the Dear Lizzy sheet in the kit - fitted like a glove!

So that's it from me today!

Have a great week

GUEST DESIGNER - Lisa Oxley - Happy Couple

I'm back again today sharing another stunning layout from our Guest Designer Lisa Oxley using the March Main Cake kit.  This kit sold out super quick last month!

Here is what Lisa had to say about her layout:

I started by using the B/W floral pattern paper page with the painted edges(sorry don't know the name of it) and i hit it with gesso because it was a little busy and a flourish mask with a little textured paste.
The pp is almost unrecognizable now, but in the light you can see the floral pattern coming faintly through the gesso.

Strips of Pattern paper, washi tape and a doily from the APOCD kit plus a little tissue paper and some stamping form the background under the large black matted photo block.
I cut hearts from a piece of gorgeous heart pattern paper to lay across the photos to form a semi - frame then created a title block with some fab thickers and stickers from the kit and detailed using some cute sequin from my stash that coordinated perfectly .

I have really loved sharing Lisa's layouts with you and hope you have enjoyed and been inspired by them too!!

Don't forget, the APOCD April sale is tonight at 8pm

Here are some sneaks of what you can expect from tonights kits :)

And the flair releases for tomorrow night

Hope to see you at the sale!

More Purple!

Hi everyone,
I have another layout to share with you using the latest cupcake kit!
And YES! it's another purple layout!!!!

This time I used a collage of the papers in the kit own the sides of my cardstock and then covered them with a light coating of white gesso.

I then used black cotton on the sewing machine over the top using both zigzag stitch and straight stitch.
I then used a mixture of stamps including Heidi Swapp and Prima to add interest to each side. I used Faber Castell gelatos to colour in my stamped squares.
I also used the purple Twinkling H20 with some water to drip down my sides as well as some watered down acrylic paint.

I used some purple spotted washi tape from my stash and the title is also some letters from my own supplies.

This collage technique is a great way to use up your scraps of paper and is so easy to do!

Designer Inspiration - Lisa Pate - March Kit

Back again with another share.  I am still surprised how far these kits actually go.  I easily make 4-5 projects from each gorgeous bundle.

This page I wanted my collaged piece to almost look like a part of the background paper.  I built up my collage and stitched it into place.  I left my foam mounting tape alone and just attached everything flat... THEN ... went over it with gesso using a palette knife.  Making sure to go over the edges in parts.

I spritz on some colour and added embellishments over the top once dry.

It was fun trying a different style of collaging to my usually very layered approach.

Hope your week is a creative one!!!

Awesome ... Natalie May

Happy Sunday peeps - and Happy Easter to you all.

Hope you are not all overdoing it on the chocolate and the kids are being awesome ....

Speaking of Awesome ... today I'm sharing a layout I created using the March Cupcake kit.
I have got so much out of this kit this month - really impressed!

For this page, I used the Wisteria Twinkling H2O's to create a watercolour background that coordinated with the papers in the kit.

Now some of you might know ... I'm not a big fan of purple - in fact when I saw this in the kit, I cringed!

But - I'm so wrapped with how this came out - I'm still not a purple lover but the colours as just perfect with the paper!

I used a few of my cut files and my Cameo to cut the Speech Bubble and circle and backed the circles with papers from the kit.

So head over and have a look at all the goodies in the shop ....

Happy Easter people - Stay Safe and enjoy every second with your families

Designer - Gina Rodgers - Cards..

Hi everyone, I had lots of lovely bits and pieces left in my March Cupcake kit, so decided to make a set of cards with some of the left-overs..

I've used scraps from the Lemon Lush 6x6 papers along with Dear Lizzy stickers, Studio Calico alphas and some sequins.. Some gesso and mist over the paper adds an 'arty' feel and the thread and tiny fasteners add texture

Happy Easter everyone!

GUEST DESIGNER - Lisa Oxley - Rise and Shine

Hey everyone! I am back again today sharing a gorgeous page from Lisa our Guest designer using our March Main Cake kit.

Lisa has created this gorgeous page titled 'Rise & Shine' for us all to be inspired by.

Here is a little bit about the layout in Lisa's own words:

I am a sucker for getting up with the sparrows , as my workday starts at 5 am , so any opportunity to get up and out of the house during the week is something i love to do .
Dawn walks along the beach, which I live very close too, are a ritual on off days.
My girlfriend in these photos is now living in Shanghai and this was our last beach walk together before she returned to China.

I love this blue piece of Pattern paper from the APOCD kit,it was calling me to use it .. so out came the house paint again, plus some white embossing powder to highlight the drips across the page .

Washi tape ,some chevron and heart cut outs from a couple of pieces of pattern paper from the kit and a little of my own tissue paper stash added some extra embellishment.

I detailed with my trusty black pen and this layout came together very easily .

Some detailed shots which really showcase the texture and dimension Lisa creates on her pages:

Stay tuned for some more inspiration coming from our designers Lisa and Natalie :)

I am converted!!!

Ok, I have a confession to make.... I hate the colour purple! BUT this kit has made me change my mind!!
I actually loved using it! This kit had a mix of beautiful colours, yellows, purples, greys, aqua and even red. I LOVED putting these layouts together and I even used lot's of paper on one layout!
Here is the first of my layouts....

This layout started off by using the chevron patterned papers which inspired my use of colours here.
I used some yellow paint on some white cardstock mixed with some blue paint with the Teresa Collins Heart stencil from the kit to create my background. Add in some machine stitching, various washi tapes from my own stash and some stamping.
I added the cut out camera and a cherry flair to be released soon :) along with some sticker elements from the sticker sheet in the kit.
The title was created tracing the letters from the Teresa Collins alphabet stencil and coloured in with a green Faber Castell gelato.

Close up of the camera cut out.

This next layout  was the first of my "purple " layouts and pushed me out of my comfort zone!

The first thing I did was to use some water on my cardstock to apply the purple H20. I covered my cardstock with white gesso and then wet my page with a misting bottle. I then used a brush to apply the H20 and then let it drip down my page.
I  then selected a range of papers from the kit that included purples, yellows and a bit of  tangerine in them. I tore and cut these papers and layered until i was happy. I then took the alphabet stencil and coloured over it with a yellow gelato.  ( you could spray with mist or use paint ). I then sprayed it with water and used it like a stamp over my papers on my background.

I then sewed over my papers and added some stencils, stamping and some washi tapes.
My title is from the kit which I loved! It makes me want to buy a silhouette for myself!
I also once again added a new flair to be released soon, and some of the gorgeous sequins .

Until next time, Eb x

Designer Inspiration - Lisa Pate - Black and White

Hello Everyone,

Today I am sharing a super sweet layout using the March Full Kit.

There was plenty of lovely and very graphic black and white papers to play with, so I bundled them all together to layer.  Once I compiled my layered focal point and attached my photo, the background paper was a little too bold all allow the photo to shine.

I quickly gave it a swipe over with gesso (you could use white paint) to soften it down but still be able to see the pattern.

The Photo is one of my current favourites, taken on my camera phone.  Four Generations.  If you havn't taken a family photo for a while, why don't you set some time away this week to snap one.
